Devanny King is the Executive Director of the Women’s Business Center of Kentucky, where
she leads statewide efforts to support entrepreneurs in starting, growing, and scaling their
businesses. Passionate about connection, collaboration, and community, she has built her
career at the intersection of relationship-building and strategic impact, creating spaces where
entrepreneurs can access the resources, knowledge, and networks needed to succeed.
Under her leadership, the Women’s Business Center of Kentucky has expanded its reach and
has been recognized as the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Women’s Business Center of
Excellence for the Southeast. Devanny has successfully grown the organization from a one-
person operation into a high-impact team, strengthening its capacity to serve a diverse range
of entrepreneurs across urban, rural, and historically underserved communities.
In recognition of her contributions to entrepreneurship, the Mayor of Lexington proclaimed May
22nd as “Devanny King Day,” and she has been named an Honorable Kentucky Colonel, the
highest honor bestowed by the Governor of Kentucky.
Beyond her organizational leadership, Devanny serves on the Lexington Mayor’s International
Affairs Advisory Committee and is an Instructor of Entrepreneurial Leadership at Georgetown
College, where she helps shape the next generation of business leaders.
Prior to her work in economic development, Devanny competed as a professional athlete
abroad, playing in Australia, Spain, China, and Mexico. This global experience shaped her
perspective on discipline, resilience, and cross-cultural collaboration values that continue to
influence her leadership today.
Devanny is deeply committed to expanding equitable access to resources and believes that
strong, intentional capacity building is key to creating sustainable impact. She brings a
strategic, collaborative, and mission-driven approach to all of her work.
Outside of work, Devanny enjoys leisure travel and finding the best possible coffee spot with
her wife, Jess and two pups.
