Originally from Belleville, Illinois, Chris Simpson moved to Cincinnati in 2005. In 2014, he joined the U.S. Commercial Service as an International Trade Specialist. In this role he provides trade counseling and assistance to exporters in Southern Ohio and Northern Kentucky.
Chris is a 1996 graduate of the United States Military Academy and served as a commissioned officer in the United States Army for 23 years. Stationed in the U.S. and Germany, he deployed five times for operations in the Balkans and the Middle East. He retired from the US Army Reserve in 2019.
Chris’ career in the commercial sector includes positions in program management and business development with BAE Systems in Fairfield, Ohio, and as Director of Government Business Development with Control Solutions in Aurora, Illinois.
In these roles, Chris led numerous projects in the defense manufacturing sector, including public-private partnerships, for the design, manufacture and sale of armored military vehicles and accessories to the U.S. military and to international allies.
His education includes a BS in Civil Engineering from the United States Military Academy and an MS in Engineering Management from Missouri University of Science & Technology.
Chris and his wife Molly live in Cincinnati with their three children, Madeline, Nicholas, and Finian.
